Hello, I had requested for ESPICE model for a connector and got a .sp file. I opened it in MI, and using converted to DML BlackBox wrapped model. I could get the symbol representation for connector in SigXP. But while simulating, I am getting the following message: "cycle.msm doesnot exist". On clicking OK for this message ,I get a message saying that the simulation failed. In the log file, we have the following message: "ABORT: Syntax error in expression source parser: Missing expression" Is it becoz of some issue in the way I converted the .sp file to dml or something else? Pls help me out. Thanks Pramod

In turning a connector model into espice, it is very easy to make a syntax error and the dml parser is not very good at telling you where the error is. Look at the connector dml examples you can find on the sourcelink site and the examples in the PCB SI documentation. This can be a very frustrating exercise due to the lack of decent error messages. Pramod, Typical connector model problems are: F elements in Hspice rather than Espice syntax (many other posts on that) Insufficient PinConnections section If you have permission to post your model (or even a sample portion), the problem might be easy locate. Donald

Hello Donald, Thanks for your inputs. Though I dont have the permission to post the entire .sp file from vendor, i am uploading parts of the file for you to look into. The F element in the sp file is not in ESPICE format, but I ran one perl script to convert it to ESPICE format. Does the SigXP support G element in the model? Also I can find a LAPLACE operator also. I am not sure if SigXP supports these. Could any one pls clarify? Using the MI and wrapping the model with these elements to dml and using it in simulation, I am not even able to run a simulation. It get aborted and gives an error "Syntax error-MIssing expression". Whn I converted the sp file to generic spice using MI and then wrapped it using MI to dml, I was able to run a simulation, but with no output (got an output of nearly zero). While converting to generic Spice, all the G elements got deleted and only R was retained. Pls help me dig out what the problem could be. Thanks Pramod Uploaded: 1. Pramod, Yes, there are G elements in Espice. But you'll have to transform the syntax as you did with the F elements. Refer to the Espice manual. There are also some laplace elements, and you'll need to refer to the manual for those too. Your model has a lot of pins. Perhaps the vendor can offer you something smaller to start with? Donald
