Many of you already received communications about the move of the Cadence user community into cadence.com. And many of you have already joined, with over 4000 registrations in the first two weeks.

The new Cadence Community enhances the ability of Cadence users to connect and collaborate. In addition to moving the community into cadence.com -- enabling single sign-on for community, Sourcelink and Cadence events -- the new site is organized around nine technology segments, giving you easy access to product information, training, forums and blogs. Some of the new features include:
  • Ability to respond to posts via e-mail
  • Technology-specific blogs
  • Latest Web 2.0 social networking capabilities
  • Public profile options
  • Private messaging
  • Friends lists
Visit the new Cadence Community today at www.cadence.com/community and join the discussions!

Registration note: Due to the scope of the enhancements and the new SSO registration system, we were not able to migrate existing cdnusers.org member accounts. So new registrations are required, but this enables a broader set of functionality we think you'll enjoy.

Forum note: Under the guidance of forum moderators, we have taken the 20+ cdnusers.org forums and consolidated them into 11 forums on the new site. Posts have been brought over so you can leverage that posting history. CDNusers forums will be set to read only starting 7/30, and cdnusers.org will be redirected to the new community on 8/4.

Best regards,
Mike and Tom

Because the maximum textblock is 64 in Allegro, when you touch the limit, how to delete the unused textblock?

I have a fuction to add new textblock which follow the maximum used textblock, but when the textblock is full,  I can't add new one~~~

In the Text Setup form (Setup > Test Sizes) click the Compact button. This was added on Allegro 15.1 to remove unused text blocks. See below:

You could also set the environmental variable "preserve_symbol_textblocks" to prevent the creation of new text blocks when placing components when a size match is not found.  Basically, with this variable set if you are using Text Block 3 in your symbols than it will use the definition in the layout for Text Block 3 vs. created a new text block which matches the definition in the symbol.

No Compact button in Allegro 15.1.
There are OK, Canel, Reset, Add and Help only.
And preserve_symbol_textblocks is available for placement only, is it help to delete the unused textblock?

Compact button in the Text Block Setup form is there on version of Allegro 15.1 I have loaded.. Maybe it appeared during an ISR update.

Lets try running the Compact command directly using SKILL. Type the following on the Allegro Command Line.

            skill axlDBTextBlockCompact(t)

This will remove all unused textblocks from the design and echo the number of Text Blocks that were actually removed.

The reason I suggested the "preserve_symbol_textblocks" variable is to prevent this in the future seeing that one of the main reasons you have so many text blocks is placing symbols that did not have a match created a new Text Block on the fly during placement.

My latest ISR is
ISR200511160839_PSD151_wint_1of1.exe

The SKILL command works OK.

Thanks
