Many of you already received communications about the move of the Cadence user community into cadence.com. And many of you have already joined, with over 4000 registrations in the first two weeks.

The new Cadence Community enhances the ability of Cadence users to connect and collaborate. Forum note: Under the guidance of forum moderators, we have taken the 20+ cdnusers.org forums and consolidated them into 11 forums on the new site. Posts have been brought over so you can leverage that posting history. CDNusers forums will be set to read only starting 7/30, and cdnusers.org will be redirected to the new community on 8/4.

Is there a UNIX command that will return the tool version in which an Allegro database was created?  We have databases in both 15.5 and 15.5.1, and need to distinguish between the two of them in order to setup the correct environment in some automation scripts.  This is important because a design created in 15.5.1 cannot be opened in 15.5.

I used the "dbstat" command to identify the tool version of an Allegro database. (dbstat <*.brd>).

It does not matter if you saved the Allegro database at a higher dot version unless you use functionality on that version it will remain at the lower dot version. In other words, if you uprev an 14.2 Allegro database to 15.5.1 it will be marked as a 15.2 database until you make changes which are only supported on the higher dot versions. The same holds true when creating a new design using File > New where dbstat will report that the database is 15.0.

One final note, when running the dbstat command on an Allegro 15.5.1 database it will report the version as 15.6 at least on the designs I have been working on.
