Many of you already received communications about the move of the Cadence user community into cadence.com. And many of you have already joined, with over 4000 registrations in the first two weeks.

The new Cadence Community enhances the ability of Cadence users to connect and collaborate. In addition to moving the community into cadence.com -- enabling single sign-on for community, Sourcelink and Cadence events -- the new site is organized around nine technology segments, giving you easy access to product information, training, forums and blogs. Some of the new features include:
  • Ability to respond to posts via e-mail
  • Technology-specific blogs
  • Latest Web 2.0 social networking capabilities
  • Public profile options
  • Private messaging
  • Friends lists
Visit the new Cadence Community today at www.cadence.com/community and join the discussions!

Registration note: Due to the scope of the enhancements and the new SSO registration system, we were not able to migrate existing cdnusers.org member accounts. So new registrations are required, but this enables a broader set of functionality we think you'll enjoy.

Forum note: Under the guidance of forum moderators, we have taken the 20+ cdnusers.org forums and consolidated them into 11 forums on the new site. Posts have been brought over so you can leverage that posting history. CDNusers forums will be set to read only starting 7/30, and cdnusers.org will be redirected to the new community on 8/4.

Best regards,
Mike and Tom

Hi Vanilson,
It is possible.
*** Firstly you must save Protel pcb file as Protel PCB 2.8 Ascii. (Save as --> Export to Protel PCB 2.8 Ascii) Then,
you can import this file in Orcad Layout. (Import -->Protel PCB) Now you have .max file. Lastly. you must use
Orcad Layout to Allegro Conversion Program. (max to brd file conversion)

First of all, thank you for the Answer. Where i can download the Orcad Layout to Allegro Conversion Program? I am using the Allegro PCB editor 15.5.

Trusting in your help again,

Cadence has a translator that takes the .MAX file and will convert it to a .BRD file. Works pretty well.

Last time I downloaded it from: www.orcad.com/community.layout.dl.aspx (look near the bottom of the page).

I hope you can still find it.

Good day.

Hello BluCad and Mitch,

I have the same problem as Vanilson and I would like to try the recommended path to convert from Protel 99 to Cadence Allegro. But I did not find the "Orcad Layout to Allegro Conversion Program. (max to brd file conversion)"mentioned by BlueCad, not even on the address indicated by Mitch. Could any one of you please tell me another possible address to find the translator?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Magno

Hi Magno,
In Allegro 16.0, Layout to Allegro translator comes default.(in PCB editor utilities) But in 15.5 or 15.7 you must download "Orcad Layout to Allegro Conversion Program". In 15.5 or 15.2 conversion program sometimes produces faulty boards.(refdes is missing or value is missing.) I dont have tried 16.0. I recommmend 14.2 conversion program. It works perfect. If you write private mail, I can send it.
Best regards,

BueCad,
(We speak Allegro)
