Hello,
I have a question on board outlines.  I created a board outline using the add line tool only to relize that when I try to z-copy package and route keepins I need a closed polygon for my board outline.  So I re-did the outline using add shapes. After I did that the keepins work fine but I can't chamfer the corners on the closed polygon.  Do I need to have both a closed polygon for keepins and line segments for my outline in order to chamfer corners?

I would recommend updating your Board outline so it is continuous line which can be easily accomplished using the Drafting capabilities within Allegro to Chamfer and Fillet line segments from the Manufacturing > Dimension / Draft Menu.

In the Dimension / Draft Menu you will have access to Chamfer and Filler commands. These commands allow you to join lines so they are continuous, just make sure to update the parameters under the Options Tab. (First / Second trim segments, Angle or Fillet Radius) Once this is accomplished you should have no issue using Z-Copy to create your package and route keepins. If you have any changes to the Board outline repeat the join process again using Chamfer and Fillet, delete the existing package / route keepins and use Z-Copy to create your package and route keepins once again.

You can join lines without a Chamfer but changing the First / Second trim segments and Angle to Zero and if you want to Chamfer the corner you must only fill in two fields at any given time with the third field set to Zero. (First Segment and Angle, First Segment and Angle)

Hi,
I would suggest creating your board outline using add line. Complete the outline adding chamfers and fillets as required by the supplied drawing. Or you can import the outline using dxf or idf. Once you have the board outline complete you can use the compose shape feature to convert the board outline to an unfilled shape. If you need to make a change you can use the decompose feature to turn it back into lines and make the changes. The compose shape is located in the Shape menu.
Z-copy only works on unfilled shapes.

You could create a bsm of the board outline and use lines in symbol making all edits in the board symbol. Then after bringing it into the board you could convert it to a filled shape. If you need to make changes edit the bsm and refresh the symbol.
As is usually the case there is more than one solution.

A minor clarification; You do not need to convert the board outline to an unfilled shape to use Z-copy to create the package keepin and route keepin. As long as the board outline is closed/continuous, it will allow you to create the keepins with Z-copy.
