Many of you already received communications about the move of the Cadence user community into cadence.com. And many of you have already joined, with over 4000 registrations in the first two weeks.

The new Cadence Community enhances the ability of Cadence users to connect and collaborate. In addition to moving the community into cadence.com -- enabling single sign-on for community, Sourcelink and Cadence events -- the new site is organized around nine technology segments, giving you easy access to product information, training, forums and blogs. Some of the new features include:
  • Ability to respond to posts via e-mail
  • Technology-specific blogs
  • Latest Web 2.0 social networking capabilities
  • Public profile options
  • Private messaging
  • Friends lists
Visit the new Cadence Community today at www.cadence.com/community and join the discussions!

Registration note: Due to the scope of the enhancements and the new SSO registration system, we were not able to migrate existing cdnusers.org member accounts. So new registrations are required, but this enables a broader set of functionality we think you'll enjoy.

Forum note: Under the guidance of forum moderators, we have taken the 20+ cdnusers.org forums and consolidated them into 11 forums on the new site. Posts have been brought over so you can leverage that posting history. CDNusers forums will be set to read only starting 7/30, and cdnusers.org will be redirected to the new community on 8/4.

Best regards,
Mike and Tom

Hi,
On our online tool, I have requested for Gen CAM OHIO, which gives the following error:

Waiting for license manager to respond.
.
License manager timed out, clearing all licenses.
E- *Error* parseString: argument #1 should be either a string or a symbol (type template = "SS") - nil
E- Can't find window; form.gencamName

The version the tool supports is 15.7, and I am facing the problem on version 16.01 also.

Please suggest me any solution.

With Regards,
Prakash

OHIO refers to Ohio Design Automation who originally wrote a set of add on userware for Allegro. Having used the OHIO tools on V14.2, I attempted to obtain when my new company purchased V15.7 to generate Gencad. I found that the OHIO tools were purchased by a third party who no longer supported my Gencad output requirements.

Hth,
Dave

Prakash,

Although we no longer use the Gencad interface, it is still licensed. It requires a Flex license key to run. The OHIO products (including Gencad) were purchased by PTC (ptc.com). If you are/were under maintainance, you should be able to receive support, including a new license key.

Hope this helps.

I also forget to mention that it does work under version 16.01.

Charles / Prakash,

Hmm ... PTC refused my request, possibly because I was requesting to purchase a new license?

Sounds like it's still available, apologies if my post was misleading.

(Have 2 e-mails from PTC dated May 2007 informing me that the product has been EOL'd and is no longer supported - guess I'll reply and check if they've changed their position !!)

Hi Dave/Davies,
Do you mean to say that conversion for Gen CAM OHIO is not supported from v15.7 or earlier version?
Can I remove this conversion option from my tool?

Note: I am not a board engineer to understand these fully, I am trying to interpret the explanation given by you and act accordingly.

Prakash,

Charles indicated that he has OHIO working in V16.01. You'll need to contact PTC (www.ptc.com) for support and the appropriate license file.
