Many of you already received communications about the move of the Cadence user community into cadence.com. And many of you have already joined, with over 4000 registrations in the first two weeks.

The new Cadence Community enhances the ability of Cadence users to connect and collaborate. In addition to moving the community into cadence.com -- enabling single sign-on for community, Sourcelink and Cadence events -- the new site is organized around nine technology segments, giving you easy access to product information, training, forums and blogs. Some of the new features include:
  • Ability to respond to posts via e-mail
  • Technology-specific blogs
  • Latest Web 2.0 social networking capabilities
  • Public profile options
  • Private messaging
  • Friends lists
Visit the new Cadence Community today at www.cadence.com/community and join the discussions!

Registration note: Due to the scope of the enhancements and the new SSO registration system, we were not able to migrate existing cdnusers.org member accounts. So new registrations are required, but this enables a broader set of functionality we think you'll enjoy.

Forum note: Under the guidance of forum moderators, we have taken the 20+ cdnusers.org forums and consolidated them into 11 forums on the new site. Posts have been brought over so you can leverage that posting history. CDNusers forums will be set to read only starting 7/30, and cdnusers.org will be redirected to the new community on 8/4.

Best regards,
Mike and Tom

I created a part for an electrltic cap,  placed the "+" with lines in the package geometry Silkscreen_Top subclass.  When then part is placed in the layout file, the placeboind extends are not the place bound area I defined in the PLACE_BOUND_Top subclass, but rather extend to include the area of silk "+" of the part.
Futher more it appears that I can not create a circuluar place bound.

I've attached a jpg of the issue.

Any ideas would be most welcome.

I think if you create a PSM part and don't include a placebound, it auto-adds one when you place it in the board file that encompasses everything in the symbol.

To create a circular placebound, I just go select Shape->Circular from the menu bar, and set the proper class/subclass in the options tab.

This is precisely what we have done.
Here's a link to a .jpg that shows this.

BTW, if the Silk "+" was created on the Board Geometry Silkscreen_Top subclass the place bound would be a rectangle bounding the boundary's of the silkscreen circle, note not a circle.

The Place_Bound_Top must be a filled shape and in looking at your image "http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g297/wildwpe/Capture-4.jpg" it is a circle.

Delete the circle and redefine it using Shape -> Circular as Randy indicated and you should be fine.

Hope this helps,

Aha!
Figured it out, the librarian created the place bound with a circle, not a shape!
Thanks.....

Agreed. Did you possibly do Add->Circle instead of Shape->Circle?
