Many of you already received communications about the move of the Cadence user community into cadence.com. And many of you have already joined, with over 4000 registrations in the first two weeks.

The new Cadence Community enhances the ability of Cadence users to connect and collaborate. In addition to moving the community into cadence.com -- enabling single sign-on for community, Sourcelink and Cadence events -- the new site is organized around nine technology segments, giving you easy access to product information, training, forums and blogs. Some of the new features include:
  • Ability to respond to posts via e-mail
  • Technology-specific blogs
  • Latest Web 2.0 social networking capabilities
  • Public profile options
  • Private messaging
  • Friends lists
Visit the new Cadence Community today at www.cadence.com/community and join the discussions!

Registration note: Due to the scope of the enhancements and the new SSO registration system, we were not able to migrate existing cdnusers.org member accounts. So new registrations are required, but this enables a broader set of functionality we think you'll enjoy.

Forum note: Under the guidance of forum moderators, we have taken the 20+ cdnusers.org forums and consolidated them into 11 forums on the new site. Posts have been brought over so you can leverage that posting history. CDNusers forums will be set to read only starting 7/30, and cdnusers.org will be redirected to the new community on 8/4.

Best regards,
Mike and Tom

Hi there,

is there anyone out there using VCAR? I thought it might be good to share some info as i'm attempting to use it just now. Here is what i want to do with it:

At top-level of  our analog chip  i'm using  VCAR to hook-up all the nets that we "don't care" about & i'll do the rest by hand. So for example i use the command

fix net VNEG
fix net V_reference

...etc and that seems to work ok.

The first issue i'm having is with keep outs. In my .rul file i've added:

iccKeepouts = list(
    list( nil list(
    list(
        "and" list('("devlg" "drawing") '("gpoly" "drawing"))
        '("m1" "drawing") "routing" t
    )

So i'm hoping to stop the m1 routing over devlg AND gpoly but there are still instances where this is occuring. Firstly is my code correct (i created this through the rule editor, i'm reading the manula but this part is not clear to me yet). Alternatively could i use the .do commands to force this keepout. I'm also wondering if its the depth of hierarchy that is the issue in that when i export to VCAR its doesn't see the devlg or gpoly.

My second issue is that i haven't yet found a clear explanation for my unsuccesful nets, i.e those that do not complete. I can find the name of the net but is there a file that describes why this could not be completed?

Cheers

Stu

p.s here is some of my  .do file that may be of some use to someone:

unselect layer gpoly
unselect layer mt
unselect layer mtlg
rule IC (stack_via any_overlap)
fix net PWM
fix net ....etc
.
.
route 20
clean 20

A simple comand set though i also setup and check the same net option
