Many of you already received communications about the move of the Cadence user community into cadence.com. And many of you have already joined, with over 4000 registrations in the first two weeks.

The new Cadence Community enhances the ability of Cadence users to connect and collaborate. In addition to moving the community into cadence.com -- enabling single sign-on for community, Sourcelink and Cadence events -- the new site is organized around nine technology segments, giving you easy access to product information, training, forums and blogs. Some of the new features include:

Registration note: Due to the scope of the enhancements and the new SSO registration system, we were not able to migrate existing cdnusers.org member accounts. So new registrations are required, but this enables a broader set of functionality we think you'll enjoy.

Forum note: Under the guidance of forum moderators, we have taken the 20+ cdnusers.org forums and consolidated them into 11 forums on the new site. Posts have been brought over so you can leverage that posting history. CDNusers forums will be set to read only starting 7/30, and cdnusers.org will be redirected to the new community on 8/4.

Hello Cadence,

 It’s happy to hear Cadence release its own class based SV library!

 I found in urm_svcb_ref.pdf page 9, “The URM base class library is an open-source, SystemVerilog-based class library of verificationcomponent building blocks and interfaces.” Thus, I can integrate uRM into my project by myself.

 So could you please tell me what the open-source licence is? And how can I get the code?

Hi Davy,

I'm the product marketing directory for SystemVerilog at Cadence. Its true, the class-based view of our Plan-To-Closure methodology is available in a limited release now. We are just completing a few more customer engagements and plan to release it shortly.

The view of our methodology for design teams is currently available, with an associated library. The main difference is in the structure of the testbench. The class-based view uses OO to construct the environment while the module-based view uses modules. We have found that designers like the module view because the static structure mimics the hardware structures they are used to seeing and is easier for them to debug. Both views can be used together on a design so the whole team can be trained on one methodology where each team member uses the appropriate view thus maximizing the resource you can put on verification.

Please contact me at asherer@cadence.com and lets talk about how and when you can access the full methodology, examples, and library. While we are selective about our engagements right now, but we expect to lift that quite soon. I know that lots of folks read this forum, so please don't be shy about asking for access. We'll also post here when we confirm the date for general release.
