Many of you already received communications about the move of the Cadence user community into cadence.com. And many of you have already joined, with over 4000 registrations in the first two weeks.

The new Cadence Community enhances the ability of Cadence users to connect and collaborate. In addition to moving the community into cadence.com -- enabling single sign-on for community, Sourcelink and Cadence events -- the new site is organized around nine technology segments, giving you easy access to product information, training, forums and blogs. Some of the new features include:
  • Ability to respond to posts via e-mail
  • Technology-specific blogs
  • Latest Web 2.0 social networking capabilities
  • Public profile options
  • Private messaging
  • Friends lists
Visit the new Cadence Community today at www.cadence.com/community and join the discussions!

Registration note: Due to the scope of the enhancements and the new SSO registration system, we were not able to migrate existing cdnusers.org member accounts. So new registrations are required, but this enables a broader set of functionality we think you'll enjoy.

Forum note: Under the guidance of forum moderators, we have taken the 20+ cdnusers.org forums and consolidated them into 11 forums on the new site. Posts have been brought over so you can leverage that posting history. CDNusers forums will be set to read only starting 7/30, and cdnusers.org will be redirected to the new community on 8/4.

Best regards,
Mike and Tom

I have a small piece of code that uses axlTriggerSet.

axlTriggerSet( 'open 'tst)

When using this function the system crashes quite regularly.  The documentation states that if you experience problems with this function to use set dbg_noskilltriggers environment variable.  I need this function to work so I cannot set this variable.  The code exicutes another skill program every time a design is opened, even in the same Allegro session. Does anyone know of an alternate function that does the same thing?

Thanks,
Boma

please see text docu: C:\Cadence\SPB_16.01\share\pcb\examples\skill\DOC\FUNCS\ -> axlTriggerSet.txt

you must follow the rule of not supported functions, I have also seen that skill trigger crashes more often if allegrohtml viewlog is enabled. Try disabling html viewlog view until you figure out what call causes the crash.

RESTRICTIONS
Unless otherwise indicated, in you Skill callback trigger you
cannot do the following:
- open, save or close the current database
- call axlShell
- call any of the axlEnter functions or any of the Select
object functions to request a user pick.
You should restrict any user interaction to blocking dialogs (forms).

Tobias,

Thanks for the suggestions. Our trigger launches a report of the type of components that are placed in the design. Every time a design is opened, a report is displayed showing how many Flex parts, Rigid parts, Reflow parts, etc. are in the design. This is done because flex parts have Coverlay openings, bigger pad sizes and no Solder Mask openings. This can cause a major problem in Fab if it is not known or detected ahead of time. FYI with the latest ISR009 for 16.01 this axlTriggerset issue is fixed.

Thanks again for the response,
Boma
