Q. You have been posting to Cadence user community forums from the very first Cadence user community, www.specctraquest.com, launched in 2001. We appreciate your long term support of these user forums and are pleased you have agreed to share some personal comments with us.
Saad:
Thanks for your request. I like the idea of this new feature. Off and on I post queries and view the market trend by looking into the posts.
Q. Tell us about your background.
Saad: Something about myself. I am from Pakistan, married with two kids. Currently I am living and working in Munich - Germany.
I am an electrical engineer graduated from NED university of engineering and technologies in 1998. After working 3 years in Pakistan as a PCB layout engineer I was offered a job in Infineon technologies AG Munich May 2001. Initial days in Germany were nightmare because I didn't know a single word of German. I used to experience severe headache after reaching home because German language was in the air and I couldn't understand at all. My colleagues helped me alot in the initial days and I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
Q. Tell us about your family.
Saad: I got married in December 2001. I have two angels at home - girl 2.5 years and boy 1.5 months. They give me a very fresh feeling when I reach home even if I am exhausted from work. Most of the time we all go to the City library and spend our evening till it is closed. To keep myself fit I do workout thrice a week. Besides I like to play badminton. Traveling is not that easy these days with 2 small kids but in vacation I like to visit families back home.
Q. What do you do at Qimonda?
Saad: About my work: I am working as an R&D CAD Engineer at Qimonda AG (recently carved out from Infineon) providing technical tool support to our design teams. In our module design flow we mainly use Cadence platform for design and layout. We use ConceptHDL, Allegro and SpecctraQuest in our design flow. For simulation we have several other tools like Ansoft Spice etc. I like this job because it allows me to think beyond a defined work style. I have a freedom to research and bring my ideas into the existing design flow. I also create add ons for Allegro if the feature is not planned in upcoming releases thus providing our design team immediate solution.
